
JOYFUL MYSTERIES
Prayed on Mondays and Saturdays, as well as the
Sundays of Advent. May also be substituted for the Glorious Mysteries on
the Sundays from Epiphany until Lent, if desired. Also may be prayed on
feast days commemorating the mysteries.

The Annunciation
Imagine the young Virgin Mary at prayer. Picture her humility and composure in beholding the
radiance of the messenger of God, the Archangel Gabriel.
Possible Intentions:
- For the grace to say "Fiat" to God's will in my life
- For the courage to step forward calmly in faith, when to human thought, the way seems impossible
- For the Virtue of Humility
- To be open to the actions of the Holy Spirit in my life
- That we become open to the gift of life
- For an end to abortion and other sins against life

The Visitation
Imagine the young Mary setting forth courageously and
quickly on her journey. Picture the greetings between the two women, and
how the child leaps in Elizabeth's womb to greet his Savior. Pray the
Magnificat.
Possible Intentions:
- For the virtue of Charity towards my neighbor
- To think first of others, rather than myself
- To give without calculating the cost
- To give glory to God in all things
- For the building up of our faith community

The Nativity
Imagine the journey of the Holy Family to Bethlehem. See
the poverty of their physical surroundings, as well as the great joy of
the unfolding events. Pray the canticle of Zechariah. Meditate on the
glory of God revealed to the humble.
Possible Intentions:
- To receive a greater love of the spirit of poverty
- For the grace of humility
- To seek the lowest, rather than the highest place
- To trust in Divine Providence
- To remember to see the face of the Lord in all we meet
- For devotion to the Infant Jesus and the Holy Family
- For all who live in poverty, without the most basic of human necessities

The Presentation in The Temple
Imagine the great joy of Jesus' parents on the occasion of His presentation. See their great devotion and humility
in their preparation for the solemn occasion. Imagine the joy of Simeon and Anna in the temple, as at last their dream is realized.
Possible Intentions:
- For the Virtue of Purity
- For the virtue of Piety
- For the virtue of Obedience
- To offer myself wholly to God
- To wait patiently in prayer
- for the fulfillment of dreams and prayers
- For all who have consecrated themselves completely to God
- For an increase in consecrated vocations

The Finding In The Temple
Imagine the shock of fear that must have been felt by the young Jesus' parents. See them hastening with pounding
hearts back to the busy city. Imagine their joy and consternation at
seeing Him safe and composed, teaching his elders in the temple. Reflect
on the total attention of Jesus to the affairs of the Father.
Possible Intentions:
- To have greater zeal for the Word of God
- To put God first in my life
- For faith in Divine Providence
- For patience in parenting
- For the great grace of openness to Wisdom
- For those whose children are missing
